Nerd review of the HR‑X40 e-bike

Hi, I'm Nerd – a fan of urban mobility and electric vehicles. This time I tested HR‑X40, small foldable electric bikeI share my experiences below, with links to pictures and an overview of the pros and cons.

Technical features (my summary description)

Motor: 250 W (brushless), enough for urban driving and most flat roads.

Battery: 36 V / 6 Ah (~216 Wh), allows a range of 25 to 30 km, depending on load and driving style.

Maximum speed: approximately 25 km/h – in accordance with EU regulations.

Wheels: 14-inch inflatable tires, suitable for city driving.

Brakes: dual mechanical disc brakes + electronic braking system.

Framework: made of 45# steel, load capacity up to 125 kg.

Weight: around 19–19.5 kg, packed 22.5 kg.

Water resistance: IP54 – protection against spray water.

Charging: about 4 watch.

My practical experience

Acceleration and driving

Starting from a standstill to 25 km/h is quick – the motor is quite responsive. In left-pedal mode or electric-only mode, I achieved a smooth ride around town and on bike paths.

Range

In average use – mixed city and asphalt – I was able to get about 25 km distance traveled, then a drop in battery capacity followed. When driving calmly, the range was close to the lower limit of what was promised.

Comfort and handling

14″ tires and a compact folding design ensure good maneuverability in urban environments. Wheel It is stable and relatively comfortable on smooth asphalt, slightly less comfortable on uneven surfaces.

Brakes and safety

The brakes are reliable, the E-brake system helps with quick stopping. The front LED light is useful, and the rear one is less clearly described, but present.

What bothered me?

Short range – really only about 25 km.

Weight: At almost 20 kg, it's not exactly hand-portable.

Material: The steel frame is robust, but its weight makes it difficult to transport.

Minimum additional equipment: It doesn't have advanced features like a TFT screen, cruise control, or NFC — it's basic, no frills.
